  5. This document contains information not included in the CreataCard
  6. Special Edition User's Guide.

  9. Installation / Uninstallation
  10. -----------------------------
  11.  
  12. 1. As with any software product installation, you should close ALL
  13.    other applications prior to running Setup.
  14.  
  15. 2. If your screen saver is set to activate after a very short
  16.    period of user inactivity you might find that the screen saver
  17.    starts during the application installation or during the help
  18.    system's animations.  If this happens, increase the screen
  19.    saver wait time.
  20.  
  21. 3. If you choose to install Picture Painter, it will normally be
  22.    set as the default screen saver.  However, in some cases
  23.    (such as if After Dark is detected), your screen saver settings
  24.    will not be changed.  You can change your screen saver settings
  25.    by bringing up the Windows Control Panel, clicking on the
  26.    Desktop or Display icon, and changing the section titled
  27.    Screen Saver.

  29. 4. When installing under Windows NT, previous CreataCard versions
  30.    would place their icons in "Common" groups.  Starting with this
  31.    release of CreataCard Special Edition, icons are placed into
  32.    "Personal" groups.  Therefore, if you have a previous version
  33.    of CreataCard installed along with CreataCard Special Edition,
  34.    you will see two CreataCard groups.
  35.  
  36. 5. If you uninstall a previous version of CreataCard which resides
  37.    in the same directory as CreataCard Special Edition, you may
  38.    lose all or part of the CreataCard Special Edition files.  If
  39.    you want to uninstall a previous version of CreataCard which
  40.    exists in the same directory as CreataCard Special Edition, you
  41.    must:

  43.    1) uninstall CreataCard Special Edition
  44.    2) uninstall the previous version of CreataCard
  45.    3) reinstall CreataCard Special Edition
  46.  
  47. 6. With this release of CreataCard Special Edition, the screen
  48.    saver application has been renamed to Picture Painter 2.  In
  49.    previous versions this was known as Picture Painter.
  50.    Installing the new Picture Painter 2 will not remove the old
  51.    Picture Painter.  However, since all of the features in the old
  52.    Picture Painter are also found in the new Picture Painter 2, we
  53.    suggest that you remove any previously installed version of the
  54.    screen saver.  You may remove a previously installed version of
  55.    Picture Painter by running Setup.exe from the CD-ROM from which
  56.    it was installed, and choosing Remove Picture Painter.

  59. Windows 95 and NT
  60. -----------------
  61.  
  62. 1. CreataCard Special Edition was designed as a full screen
  63.    product.  The Windows taskbar will not be visible while running
  64.    CreataCard Special Edition.  It can be accessed by pressing
  65.    Ctrl-Esc.
  66.  
  67. 2. CreataCard Special Edition will not automatically adjust to
  68.    video resolution changes.  Exit CreataCard Special Edition and
  69.    restart it when changing your display settings.

  72. Scanners and Digital Cameras
  73. ----------------------------

  75. 1. Epson 1200c - We suggest using the 32-bit driver which is
  76.    available for this scanner from the manufacturer.  Using the
  77.    16-bit driver may cause a crash in the Twunk16.exe module.
  78.  
  79. 2. Mustek 1200sp - The scanner must be turned on before choosing
  80.    Insert Photo.
  81.  
  82. 3. If you install a scanner or digital camera driver after
  83.    installing CreataCard Special Edition and you are experiencing
  84.    problems acquiring images from the scanner or camera,
  85.    reinstalling CreataCard Special Edition may help.  This will
  86.    ensure that you are using the latest Twain drivers available
  87.    at the time that CreataCard Special Edition shipped.

  90. Printing
  91. --------

  93. 1. When printing to the Hewlett Packard 1600 or 1200 in PCL mode,
  94.    enable the "Print True Type as Graphics" option.  This should
  95.    prevent problems that may occur when printing text on top of
  96.    graphics.

  98. 2. We always suggest that if you are experiencing any difficulty
  99.    with printing, make sure you obtain the latest printer driver
  100.    for your printer from the printer manufacturer.

  103. CreataCard Online
  104. -----------------
  105.  
  106. CreataCard Special Edition will automatically launch your default
  107. Internet web browser and go to the CreataCard Online web site when
  108. you click on CreataCard Online.  Your default Internet web browser
  109. is defined as whatever application has associated itself with the
  110. .HTM file extension.  However, some web browsers do not associate
  111. themselves with .HTM files, and thus cannot be launched
  112. automatically by CreataCard Special Edition.  If you are using one
  113. of these web browsers, you can still access CreataCard Online by
  114. running your browser and going to the http://www.creatacard.com
  115. website.

  118. Registration
  119. ------------

  121. An electronic registration utility is included to allow you to
  122. easily register your new product.  Registering CreataCard Special
  123. Edition enables us to keep you best informed about product
  124. upgrades and additional content as it becomes available.

  126. 1. Electronic registration can only be performed one time.
  127.  
  128. 2. You may print the registration form as many times as you like,
  129.    until you actually register.  After registration, you may no
  130.    longer print the registration form or electronically register
  131.    again.
  132.  
  133. 3. If you cancel or exit during the registration, you must run
  134.    SETUP again to try the registration process again.

  137. Back Page Art
  138. -------------

  140. Back Page Art is the logo or insignia that you might see on the
  141. back of your favorite card.  We have included a selection of Back
  142. Page Art that you can personalize to add that finishing touch.
  143. Whenever you edit back page art, the changes that you make are
  144. saved.
  145.  
  146. If at any time you would like to return to the default back page
  147. art that was supplied with CreataCard Special Edition, simply
  148. delete the file backpage.csf.  This file is located wherever you
  149. installed CreataCard Special Edition, in the DATA subdirectory.
